Clinical hypnotherapy is a therapeutic process that can be used to help facilitate a desired cognitive or behavioural change, to allow you feel more positive and in control.  This is done by accessing the natural state of hypnosis when the mind is more receptive to positive suggestions.  

Hypnosis itself is a focused state of attention we go in and out of many times a day, for example when we are absorbed by a piece of music or film.  There are no tricks or stage hypnosis techniques involved and you can’t be made to do anything against your will. 

Many people describe the experience as deeply relaxing, or like meditation. Some say it’s like a spa for the mind.  You may or may not drift in and out of sleep during the session; the treatment is effective either way.  Many clients have said they favour it over other complementary therapies because it’s drug-free and needle-free and it can be done remotely. 

The number of sessions required varies depending on your individual situation.  For many, 4 to 10 sessions are adequate to see desired change. Top-up sessions can also help by reinforcing the outcome of your sessions over the longer term, or to apply similar techniques to different issues.
